It's the Warhammer world open day and what does our glorious masters have for us in Nottingham. First is the triumph of Saint Katherine, a lovely looking centre piece model for you collectors of sisters of battle (or Imperium armies multi detachments many models technically one army). Taking a lot of inspiration from the second retaliatory crusade when the Christian armies would take remains of the Saints into battle to inspire the troops. It looks resplendent, with sisters marching by it's side carrying the reliquary and cherubs flying above. The little touches such as the spreading of petals makes it really stand out and even sombre in amidst the grim dark setting of the warhammer 40,000 universe.
Dressed in robes barely showing their faces, gives it more of a quiet dignity. With a canoness preaching at the back and the battle sister with martyr's sword at front. It really is a gorgeous model and would look good as painted piece just for show as well as on the table top.
Next up is the Adeptus Mechincus flyer, by the emperor I love flyers. They look good, they can be devastating as hell (my crimson lords interceptor has a +2 to hit flyers suck it Alaitoc/Alpha legion) and fun to build and paint. The new Mechanicus flyer looks like a mash up between steam punk and world two bombers. Given the previous troop transport, the Skorpius Dunerider, looking like the d-day landing craft; showing the theme they are taking the Mechanicus line. With it's bat like wings and it's semi-spherical cock pit, with twin autocannons. Though I have to admit I'm not a fan of the wings. I would personally remove the spikes and file down the edges to give it a more rounded look. They look a little too traitorous in my opinion, maybe a hint of dark mechicus in the future???
Though I do like the new flyer stand, less intrusive on the base and allows you to really play with making a good looking thematic base for your model. The legs on the side is a fun addition too, this adds to the steam punk giving it a more organic even a sentient feel. As if could just land and walk it's way up the battlefield. It comes with a huge number of weapon choices, including bombs. Making it as straight up fighter or bomber nice and versatile for flyer.
