The Kruleboyz look amazing, yeah they do look like the Urak hai and orcs from lord of the rings. I don't care, they look cool (or should that be kool?). So with the dominion unboxing that took place Saturday, here's my thoughts; late because that way it's not a kneejerk reaction and more thoughtful approach. So first the Age of Sigmar poster boys, the stormcast eternals. They are stormcast eternals, not much to say for the rank and file, It's the same when they release new space marine units. They look good but are much of a muchness. Once again it is the tabletop centre pieces, that make stormcast eternals worth it.
Yndrasta The Celestial Spear
Look how important she is, standing on a staircase of rocks. That must mean super important in Games Workshop's eyes. I am already thinking of kitbashes for this mini. So the fluff says she was reforged by Sigmar himself and given a portion of his god like power. I like it; such a great pose. The wings are awesome giving the impression, she is much bigger than she actually is.
But the new race, the kruleboys for Orruks (read: orcs but copyrighted). Their more human look, putting the on edge of the uncanny valley, in terms of silhouette, gives them a creepier tone than most orrruks and I love that. It ties in to their more cunning battle style.
The kruleboys are led by a Killaboss, you get two in the dominion box and they are both some of better kits that games workshop has produced in a long while. The biggest and so by Oruuk standards the best is the Killaboss on Gnashtoof.
So much to love about this mini, the mount, the rider everything looks like someone actually put love into this one. The Killaboss is treading the thin line between supernatural and normal. The same with the Gnashtoof.
FInally the Swampcalla Shaman. Another awesome looking mini for this new race. Even the pot grot looks nice, this attention to human physique over the traditional orc (orruk). I a breath of fresh air. In a genre full of the meathead, over muscled orcs.
The best part about this new race, the kruleboyz is how creepy; they are. The poisons pouring from he shaman's bowl and the huge skull fragment on his back. So awesome and eerie. The malice on the pot grots face. Wow just wow. So after three editions I may actually take Age of Sigmar seriously and all it took was creepy, nasty and proper evil orcs to do it.
